There are two primary types of straight bladed swords used in China. One is known as the Wu Jian or "Martial Sword," which is long and heavy. The other type is called a Wen Jian or "Scholar's Sword," and it is lighter and primarily used for personal self-defense.
After thoroughly studying the history and usage of both types of swords through various sources, we have decided to create our own high-quality Gim (Wu Jian) sword. This sword is designed for serious collectors and practitioners of Chinese Martial Arts.
The blade of our Wu Jian is crafted from 1055 Carbon steel, measuring 30" in length and 11/8" in width. Both edges of the blade are sharp, making it suitable for cutting and slashing. Additionally, it features a sturdy point for stabbing. The guard and pommel of the sword are traditionally styled and made from solid brass. They securely fit onto a durable Rosewood handle, which is not only decorative but also functional.
The Gim Sword is accompanied by a top-notch wooden scabbard, complete with brass throat, chape, and sword rings. It can be worn either suspended from a belt or slung over the shoulder.
