The MNC-1250 is a dual-band 2.4/5Ghz wireless network controller with a built-in SIM slot for accessing cellular data sources, dual internal access points, gigabit ports, multi-source failover functionality, and a slew of other powerful features to meet a ship's networking requirements.
MNC-1250 exposes all usage while allowing control by source, login code, or user, with features to manage accessibility, cap data, limit bandwidth, and blacklist macs and/or urls from a single browser-based page on any device.
The SIM slot is intended to be universal, and it is compatible with the majority of SIM cards used around the world, allowing users to connect to a variety of cellular networks. Because the SIM card can be easily removed and replaced, users can select their own providers based on the locations they visit and the availability of service in any given area.
For example, one's homeport provider "A" may provide the best service and can be used with their SIM. If coverage is better on provider "B" when traveling to another state, one of their SIMS can be used. If the vessel departs the country or is based in another country, a foreign SIM, such as one from a Canadian, Bahamas, or Mexican carrier, can be obtained and used while in the prospective country.
This broad coverage, as well as the ability to pay for cell service directly to the country of origin rather than relying on roaming agreements, is ideal for cruisers.
