About this item

1.92 TB, U2, PCIe Gen4 x4, 6800 / 4000 MB/s

SSDs, or disks with flash memories don't yet reach such high capacities as traditional HDDs.

Their undeniable advantages are however their high read/write speed and lower latency. Their lifetimes are basically equal to those of traditional hard drives nowadays, however, it's important to choose the correct key DWPD value (no. of rewrites of the total capacity of the disk within one day).

Interface

When choosing a hard drive it's important to consider the choice of SATA, SAS, or NVMe disks. SATA and SAS disks are intended for both HDDs and SSDs and differ in their theoretical transfer speeds. NVMe disks are flash-based only and as such reach much higher read/write numbers and are also characterized by their very low latency.

Speed and Capacity

A key parameter in terms of hard drives is their RPM, which ranges between 5400 and 15000. This directly influences the speed of the drive and with that, its price. Today, more and more HDDs are being replaced by SSD solutions. SSDs are many times faster and their prices are starting to get closer to those of traditional HDDs. Their access times are also often faster and there's no wear when reading from the flash memory. The newest standard, NVMe, increases the quality of disks with flash memories even more and more hard drive manufacturers are starting to use it.

Top solution for diverse applications

PM9A3 offers tremendous performance for Read-Intensive data centers by applying PCIe Gen 4, achieving 1000K IOPS in Random Read and 6800 MB/s in sequential read speed. Using impressively low power in small form factors (E1.S, U.2, M.2), PM9A3 delivers an efficient SSD solution for mixed data workloads.

Gen4 Speed for Powerful Data Centers

The new generation of performance. Gen4 SSD reaches soaring speeds and handles extreme traffic for smooth data center operations.

The New Height of Dynamic Speed

Rely on random write speeds of up to 190,000 IOPS and sequential read speeds up to 6,950 MB/s for unparalleled data center performance.

Hardware Automation Enabled

Instant data processing eliminates overheads for more efficient operations

Various Form Factors

Engineered to suit a range of data centers. The PM9A3 is available in E1.S, U.2, and M.2 form factors. Choose the high-performance model that fits.

Samsung PM9A3 – The Power Behind High Performing Data Centers

The beating heart of any data center are the storage systems that deliver consistent I/O performance.

We need them to deliver round the clock great and reliable performance to the tenant virtual machines and containers. Solid-state drives (SSD) are the preferred technology for high performance in cloud applications, of course, but not just any solution will do.

Samsung is now unleashing next generation data center performance with its PM9A3 NVMe PCIe SSD.

A specialist data center product, this cutting-edge solution offers up to 190,000 IOPS random write time and 6950 MB/S sequential read, as well as up to 50% faster restart times compared to its predecessor.

It’s also available in a range of form factors, including M.2, U.2 and E1.S. Providing significant improvements for those needing high end storage, there’s plenty to attract growing data centers that want to create value.

Enterprise functionality

Data center architects strive to deliver reliable computing and storage resources, but enterprise budgets are not limitless, so they must deliver performance at the lowest total cost. Over-index in either direction and the solution becomes less compelling.

Samsung has found the sweet spot. Already a leader in NVMe SSDs, the company knows how to make sure that public cloud applications run well.

Compared to SATA SSDs, top-performing NVMe SSDs can provide more than ten times the read performance and lower latency, while still providing the cost benefits of SATA and low-power consumption per IOP.

With the Samsung PM9A3 specifically, users benefit from a combination of high performance and enterprise functionality built especially for data centers. It takes advantage of PCIe Gen 4, which unlocks new levels of speed.

Samsung is one of the first movers with Gen 4 technology, launching an innovative PCIe Gen4-supporting SSD, the PM1733.

With the PM9A3, the company is now taking the lead in the data center space by creating a solution that offers performance where it’s needed most. Samsung’s PM9A3 is quick and efficient.

It gets around the slowdowns that SSDs with PCIe Gen 3 support have, giving random read speeds that are almost twice as fast and sequential read speeds that are more than twice as fast as its predecessor.

The solution races through the I/O workload while offering stability and high-end enterprise security.

Agile and effective

The PM9A3 is as versatile as it is powerful. Samsung knows that not all server deployments are the same, so the PM9A3 was made with that in mind.

All of the Samsung SSDs are built with the same Samsung SSD controllers and V-NAND to make them highly available and to make SSD qualification easier.

When using 8TB, it is possible to use a high capacity 256TB configuration in a 1U server.

With the development of the PM9A3, Samsung has proven that it is possible to provide specialist data center SSDs that are both power efficient and cost-effective, even when it comes to large-scale deployments.

High-end enterprise NVMe SSDs are now available for everyone, with features to match – and it’s not just for those with the deepest pockets.

The PM9A3 is faster, performs better and offers security that gives peace of mind. Welcome to the new and improved data center.
