About this item
1000-Mbps, PoE, 850nm, RJ-45, LC, 41x157x13 mm

The copper port negotiates network speed automatically and includes Auto MDI-X for simple cabling. LEDs indicate when PoE power is being fed as well as when power is being interrupted. Compliant with RoHS.

At the end of the CAT5 run, connect Gigabit-speed fiber optic to a 10-100-1000-Mbps copper UTP segment while also powering 802.3af devices.

The Black Box PoE PSE Gigabit Media Converter connects copper wiring transparently to multimode fiber as a low-cost means to extend Ethernet communications well beyond the 100-meter (327-foot) CATx limit.

Along with matching copper to interference-free fiber at Gigabit speeds, the converter also serves as power source equipment (PSE) for PoE devices plugged in on the copper side.

Using the same UTP cabling for data communications and 48-VDC power simplifies power setup and maintenance in a network application.

It's especially useful for locating equipment in areas where access to energy is difficult or prohibitively expensive.

Install PoE-compatible security cameras and wireless access points in regions where there are no power outlets nearby to reduce total power consumption.

Furthermore, the PoE PSE Gigabit Media Converter includes numerous power management functions, such as overcurrent protection, undercurrent detection, minimum load sensing, and the option to turn on or off PSE MDI power.

Link fault pass-through (LFP) is a media converter function that detects signal loss on both the fiber and copper sides of the receiving ports.

This ensures that data may be reliably transferred and received.

If a signal is sent out on one media port, the TX signal to the other media port is switched off immediately.

If the fiber receive (RX) port loses signaling, a far-end fault (FEF) function allows the converter to discontinue sending a link pulse to a link partner.

The link partner will also stop sending data synchronously. This manner, you avoid losing valuable data that was delivered through an incorrect link.
